How We Teach

We teach the children using developmentally appropriate daily activities that we pull from a number of great sources. We use the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards to guide us in teaching children according to their individual needs and interests. The children learn all of the necessary skills that promote Physical Development and Motor Skills, Social and Emotional Development, Approaches to Play and Learning, Communication, Language and Literacy, Cognitive Development and General Knowledge. They learn and grow by engaging in play-based, explorative activities in language, math, art, music, science, social studies, imaginary play, listening, speaking and sensory play.  Our curriculum is pulled from many great sources, with foundations in developmentally appropriate practices and the Creative Curriculum.
Our teaching methods are based on beliefs from several prominent early childhood ideologies. We believe that play is a child’s work, and that children learn best using their hands, in small groups, with their teachers available to guide them (Maria Montessori).  We also believe that children learn best when they are given a voice in the classroom to express their interests and the teachers listen to them and respect what they have to bring to the learning environment. (Reggio Approach) Children are encouraged to make choices, help others, and take care of their classrooms.
